1. Tools needed and safety first

All you’ll need are some long-nose pliers and a Phillips screwdriver.

Unplug and eliminate all power to your oven.

Turn off all power to oven

2. Remove oven door

Removing the oven door can make it easier to access the oven element. Open the catches on both sides of the oven door. You may be able to do these by hand or with a flathead screwdriver, but if they're stiff, use the long-nose pliers.

Holding the door with both hands, one on either side and not on the handle, start to close the door whilst lifting up and the door hinge will release from the oven.

3. Remove old element

Remove all the oven shelves and any trays.

Remove back panel

Depending on your oven model, there will likely be four screws holding the back panel in place. Remove these and then take the back panel away.

To remove the element, unscrew the top two screws.

Then, unscrew the bottom screw.

Unclip the connectors by hand or using a pair of long-nose pliers. Be careful not to lose the wires down the back of the oven. If you do, you’ll just need to gain access to the rear to push them back through.

4. Install new oven element

Attach the wires to the connectors on the new oven element.

Re-screw screws

Rescrew the screws to hold the oven element to the back of the oven.

Re-attach back panel

Re-attach the back panel and refit the final four screws. Place any trays and shelves back in.

Re-attach oven door

Re-attach the oven door. With the catches open, line up the fingers on the door with the slots in the oven. Insert the hinges into the slots whilst letting the oven door drop down away from you. This may take a couple of attempts if it's your first time.

Press the catches all the way down to secure the oven door. These can be stiff and may need a bit of pressure.

That's it, your new oven element is all set to go!
