Hotpoint Oven Fan Motor

1. Tools needed and safety first

All you’ll need is a pair of long-nose pliers, a Phillips screwdriver and a 10mm socket.

Before doing anything, eliminate all power to the oven.

2. Access old oven fan motor

Firstly, remove any trays and racks from the oven.

Remove internal back plate

Unscrew the four screws holding the internal back plate in place.

Remove the internal back plate and place to one side.

Remove existing fan

With the 10mm socket or wrench, remove the nut holding the fan in place. This screw is a reverse thread, so twist it clockwise to loosen it.

Remove the old fan.

Unscrew oven panels

If your oven is in a kitchen unit or recess, remove the screws found at the front and gently pull your oven out. Remove the screws on the rear of the oven panel.

Remove the rear two screws on top of the oven panel.

You'll then be able to access the rear of the oven.

A little tip before removing any wires, take a photo so you have a reference for where to reconnect them later.

3. Remove old oven fan motor

Now remove all three screws from the existing oven fan motor.

Remove the wiring connectors with your long-nose pliers or by hand.

4. Install new oven fan motor

With your new oven fan motor and the oven fan insulation plate, slightly re-screw the top two screws. Making sure not to screw them in the whole way. Leave the bottom screw for later.

Attach new fan motor to oven

Insert the top screws on your new oven fan motor into the slots and then gently pull it down to secure the new oven fan motor in place.

Re-connect wiring to new fan motor

Connect the wiring to your new oven fan motor. Using the photo taken earlier as a reference if needed.

Fasten screws

Fasten the two screws on the front of the fan motor and then re-screw the bottom one in.

Attach new fan

Attach your new fan and fasten the bolt. Remember that it’s a reverse thread, so screw anti-clockwise to tighten.

Then test that the fan spins smoothly.

5. Re-assemble oven

Re-insert the internal back plate and re-screw the four screws back in.

Close the back of the oven and re-screw the top screws back in.

Re-screw the screws for the rear oven panel.

Re-insert any racks and trays

That's it, your new oven fan motor is all set to go!
