Bosch shredder guide plate

My third guide plate!
The Bosch garden shredder axt 25 tc, uses this blade. It maintains a close distance with the turbine cutting cone and can be adjusted with a screw tab on the side to close up the gap when it wears. Eventually, you run out of guide plate and this spare part replaces it. It is easy to replace, just take off the top securing bar (one screw). tap the old guide out from underneath (it will be jammed in with debris), clean up the housing and drop the new one in. Adjust the distance screw back first, then put everyting back together and adjust the screw for a good cut. The cutting cone is very expensive and you might as well get a new shredder, but this bit lasts for about 5 years depending on use. I have had mine for at least 15 years and it just keeps going!

Works fine however the part had to be machined to fit.
The Chopper Guide block works well, consequentially the shredder is back to working as well as it did when new. There was a problem in that the steel cylindrical rod was slightly larger diameter than the original and was also a few thousands of an inch longer on both ends. Both ends length had to be shortened to enable the block to be installed. It was not necessary to change the diameter. Considering the Shredder was purchased in 2009 and is back to working well I am pleased

Piece of cake!
Over the last two seasons, my Bosch shredder has worked long and hard. Then it started to clog up quite easily. l noticed that that guide plate looked worn so I ordered a replacement and found it very easy to replace. Just undo one screw and pop it out. The new guide has made such a difference with the shredder performing as new. Well worth the relatively small expense.

Cost effective replacement
I have had a Bosch AXT 25 TC garden shredder for a fair number of years. It has a rotary cutting blade (incredibly tough) which bears on an aluminium anvil to form a cutting edge. Periodically you wind in the aluminium wedge thing to make the cutting edge sharp again. Mine had run out of adjustment but only after at least 5 years of use. It has eaten a huge amount of branches and cuttings and never failed. So was a new aluminium wedge going to work? Well it does. The shredder is working as good as new. Was it difficult to fit? No, a single Phillips screw allows a bar to be removed and the old anvil blade can be prised out (it will be a bit stiff so sue a large screwdriver judiciously). The new one drops in IF you wind back the adjustment screw so it can fit. Refit the holding bar, re-assemble and test. A few turns on the adjuster and the shredder will be back in action. RansomSpares supply a genuine Bosch part of the correct type and it has given me years more use out of this shredder. Thoroughly recommended, just order the right part number. RS497118 - guide plate.

Does this plate fit the 2000 axt please? not the pathetic screw thread version the original with cutter gear. Thank you.
