Tumble Dryer Not Drying Properly

Is your tumble dryer taking ages to dry your clothes?  Are your clothes coming out of the tumble dryer warm but not dry?  Here we'll go through the most common reasons why.

Step 1 - Check your filters

Your tumble dryer relies on air flow to pass over the heater element and in to the drum.  If your lint filter is clogged up or damaged then this will affect the drying performance of your clothes dryer.

Step 2 - Check your condenser unit

If you have a condenser tumble dryer you should regularly inspect and clean the condenser unit.  Warm moist air from your damp clothes will pass over the condenser unit and condense the water in to the water container.  If the condenser unit is clogged the with fluff it will take much longer for the clothes to dry due to the decreased efficiency.

Step 3 - Check the water container

If you have a condenser dryer it is important to make sure that the water container is emptied after every cycle.

Step 3 - Check the vent hose

If you have a vented tumble dryer you should check to make sure that the vent hose that goes from the tumble dryer to the outside is free from kinks and blockages.  If the hose is kinked then the warm moist air will not be able to escape from the dryer.
