Hotpoint Washing Machine Heating Element 1700W
1. Tools needed and safety first
All you’ll need is a Phillips screwdriver and a ratchet with an 8mm socket.
Firstly, turn off and eliminate all power to your washing machine.
2. Gaining access and photograph
You need to gain access to the back of the washing machine, where the heating element is on this model. Remove all the screws and take off the rear panel cover
Before removing any wires, we recommend taking a photo of the existing wiring layout as a reference for later.
3. Remove old heating element
The bottom of your machine might be sharp, so lay down an old jumper or towel to stop any nasty cuts and then gently unclip all the wiring. You may need a pair of long nose pliers if the connectors are tight.
With your 8mm socket and ratchet, unscrew the nut.
Then remove the old heating element from the washing machine. If yours is old and difficult to remove, you may have to pry it away with a flathead screwdriver.
4. Install new heating element
Insert your new heating element the same way round as it was removed.
Tighten up the nut with an 8mm socket and the rubber seal will clamp to the washing machine.
Re-connect the wiring. Use the photo you took earlier if you need a reference of where each wire goes.
Re-attach the rear cover to your washing machine and re-screw the screws back in place.
And that’s it, the new heating element for your washing machine is all set to go.
