How To Replace The Belt On A Bosch Washing Machine
This is a step by step guide on how to replace the belt on your Bosch washing machine. This guide will be useful for all makes and models as the process is very similar on all washing machines.
The drive belt on your washing machine is responsible for turning the drum via the motor. If your belt breaks or is slipping then your washing machine drum will not turn or spin. Fortunately fitting a replacement belt is a straightforward DIY task. Take a look at the videos below for a step by step guide on replacing the belt on various brands of washing machine.
Step 1 - Remove the back panel
The first thing we need to do is get access to the rear of the machine and remove the back cover.
On this Bosch washing machine the rear cover is held in place with just one screw. Sometimes there will be more, whilst on some machines there is no back cover and you’ll have to replace the belt from the top by removing the lid.
Step 2 - Locate the belt
With the back cover removed you would normally see the belt stretched around the drum pulley and the motor spindle. However, if the belt has snapped then it will likely be lying on the floor at the bottom of the machine.
Step 3 - Fit the New Belt
Your new belt will be very tight to fit, some more so than others. It has to be in order to turn and spin the drum when under a full load. We get lots of customer’s contact us telling us the belt we’ve supplied must be the wrong one because there’s no way they can fit it. Well, it will fit but sometimes it can be difficult.
Always start with the belt around the motor spindle first and then turn the belt on to the drum pulley.
