How to replace the belt on a Hotpoint washing machine

This is a guide on how to replace the drum belt on this hotpoint washer dryer.  Please note that the process is similar no matter what make or model of washing machine you own.

Step 1 - Remove the rear cover

To gain access to the belt we first need to remove the rear cover which is held on by 6 screws.

Step 2 - Locate the belt

We're going to remove the belt by turning the pulley at the same time as gently pulling the belt towards me.  However, if your belt has snapped then it will be lying in the bottom of the washing machine.

Step 3 - Fit the new belt

To re-fit the belt I'm going to first put it over the motor pulley and then over the drum pulley and rotate.
