How To Fit A Hotpoint Washing Machine Drain Pump

In the video we demonstrate how to replace the pump on your Hotpoint washing machine.  If you have a different brand of washing machine these instructions will still be useful as the process is very similar on all washing machines.

On this Hotpoint washing machine the drain pump is located at the rear of the machine.  They are  located at the bottom of ALL washing machines, however sometimes they are located at the front.  In these instances access can be gained from the bottom of the washing machine.

Step 1 - Remove the rear cover

To gain access to the washing machine pump first remove the rear cover by loosening the retaining screws

Step 2 - Remove the drain and sump hose

Next we can remove the drain hose and the sump hose by removing the clips that secure them to the drain pump.

With the hose clips removed the hoses can then be eased off the pump.

Step 3 - Remove the pump

The pump will be secured in place with either a clip as is this one, or retaining screws which can be undone from underneath the washing machine.

Now we can remove the pump from the washing machine.

Step 4 - Remove the electrical connections

Next we can remove the electrical connections ready to refit them on to the new pump.

Step 5 - Fit the new Pump

We can now refit the new pump in exactly the same way that the old one came out.
